Ronald Breslow, Ph.D. - Columbia University
Dr. Ronald Breslow
is a University Professor in the Departments of Chemistry and Biology
at Columbia University. He is a synthetic and mechanistic organic
chemist whose research interests include the development of novel
cytodifferentiating agents, which have shown great promise as
anti-cancer drugs. Dr. Breslow has also performed pioneering work in
the field of biomimetic chemistry, using computational modeling tools
to design artificial enzymes that can imitate the function of natural
enzymes. He has co-authored over 400 scientific articles throughout his
distinguished career, is a member of the National Academy of Sciences,
and is the recipient of nearly two dozen major awards, including the
U.S. National Medal of Science (1991) and the Priestley Medal, the
American Chemical Society's highest honor.
