Maestro fails on startup with an error that it can't load libXaw.so.7. What can I do?

The error message in full is:

error while loading shared libraries: libXaw.so.7: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

This error is common on 64-bit Linux distributions. It indicates that certain 32-bit compatibility libraries are not installed. The solution is to find and install the corresponding 32-bit version of the libXaw.so.7 library. On RedHat systems, it is usually libXaw-version-number.i386.rpm.
