While opening a project, I get a message that cleanup is in progress. I know that this is not the case, so what can I do to open the project?
This situation can arise when the cleanup process fails.
First, double-check that cleanup has finished. The message that is displayed shows the host and the process ID for the cleanup. You should verify that the process has finished before proceeding.
If the cleanup process has finished, remove the directory project.prj/.mmproj-cleanup. You should then be able to open the project. Note that if you remove this file while the project is being cleaned up, you risk corrupting your project.
It is possible that one or more entries have been corrupted in the process. If this is the case, you will get a warning when you try to operate on that entry. The only remedy is to remove the corrupted entry.
When you close the project again, the cleanup process is likely to fail if there is corrupted data present in the project, and you will have to repeat this procedure to open the project again.
