How do I test Maestro Elements from a standard Maestro installation?
In Suite 2012, you can simply start Maestro with the Elements profile by clicking on the appropriate icon on a Windows or a Mac machine, or use the command maestro -profile Elements on Linux.
For earlier suites, follow the instructions below.
First, save your Maestro settings, because these are shared between Maestro and Maestro Elements. You can do this as follows:
Linux:
cd ~/.schrodinger/NN
mv maestro maestroNN.save
Windows:
Right-click on the maestroNN folder in %APPDATA%\Schrodinger and choose Rename, then append .save to the name.
With the settings saved, you can start Maestro Elements as follows:
Linux:
$SCHRODINGER/maestro -elements
Windows:
- Make a copy of the Maestro shortcut on the Desktop: right-click and drag, then choose Copy Here.
- Edit the settings for the shortcut copy: right-click and choose Properties,
then append a space and
-elementsto the text in the Target text box. For a standard installation, it should look like:
Suite 2011:C:\Schrodingeryear\maestro.exe -elements
Suite 2010:C:\Schrodingeryear\utilities\maestro_start.bat -startmaestro -elements - You can also change the name of the shortcut in the General tab, for example by appending Elements
When you have finished testing Maestro Elements, make sure that you restore the regular Maestro settings that you saved, so you can continue using Maestro. If you want to switch between Maestro and Maestro Elements, you should save settings for both, and move them to maestroNN as appropriate.
