How should I install Maestro Elements? Do I need to install Maestro as well?

As of Suite 2012, Maestro Elements is a "profile" (customization) of Maestro. On Windows you can choose to install just the Elements profile. On Mac and Linux, all profiles are installed by default. Windows and Mac have icons for launching Maestro with the Elements profile. On Linux you can start Elements with the command maestro -profile Elements. In earlier releases, you should not install both Maestro and Maestro Elements on the same machine, and you do not need to install the full version of Maestro to run Maestro Elements.

If you are planning to only use Maestro Elements, you can download and install Maestro Elements for Suite 2011 and Suite 2010 from the Download Center. If you already have the Suite 2010 update release, you can just copy your license file to the Suite 2011 installation. If you do not have a license file, go to http://www.schrodinger.com/licensing/ for instructions.

If you are a computational chemist who uses regular Maestro and wants to test Maestro Elements in Suite 2011 or earlier, see KB article 1435.
