I have created and exported fingerprints from the Interaction Fingerprints script. Can I use them in the Canvas interface?
Yes. If you have already exported the fingerprints, you can create a Canvas project from the command line. Use the -new option with the first fingerprint file as follows:
$SCHRODINGER/utilities/canvasProjectDB -proj full-path/project.cnv -ifp myfpfile.fp -new
For other fingerprint files, you can append to this project by using the -append option instead of -new. Once you have the fingerprints in a project, you can open the project in the Canvas interface and use the fingerprints for calculations. This approach does not associate the fingerprints with a structure, it just imports the fingerprints.
If you want to use these fingerprints in Canvas but have not yet exported them, you can follow the procedure below to get both the ligands and the fingerprints into Canvas.
- Export the ligands from the Project Table to a Maestro file.
- Export the fingerprints from the Interaction Fingerprints panel with the option "Export non-fingerprint properties" selected in the Advanced Settings dialog box. These properties can be used for matching the fingerprints to the ligands.
- Start Canvas and create a project.
- Import the ligands from the Maestro file.
- Import the fingerprints from the .fp file, and choose "s_m_entry_id" for the Import property, and "entry id" for the Project property. These are the Maestro entry IDs, which are unique.
