When I installed Suite 2012 on my Windows machine, there was no information in the Software Activation screen of the installer. How do I get this information and send it in to obtain my license?
This problem can happen if you have the Cisco Security Agent running, and you answer "No" in the dialog box that asks if you are installing software. "No" is the default answer, which will be used if you do not make a choice within 5 minutes of the dialog box appearing. The security agent prevents the application that gathers the machine information from running. It also blocks other applications, including the application that installs the icons on the desktop and the commands on the Start menu for running Maestro.
To fix this problem, first you must purge the event log for Cisco Security Agent.
- Open the Cisco Security Agent window.
- In the Tasks list, click Events.
- Choose Recent Events for the Event Type.
- Click Purge
The events listed should include events for profile_manager.exe, machid.exe, dll_checker_util.exe. These events must be purged because they are cached, and you will not be able to
Next, the simplest procedure is to uninstall the software and reinstall it. Make sure that you choose Yes when the Cisco Security Agent asks if you are installing or uninstalling software.
If you do not want to uninstall and reinstall the software, you can choose Start → All Programs → Schrodinger-2012 → Installation Properties to get the information required for a license, and you can run a command in a command prompt window to install the missing menu items and icons.
- Choose Start → All Programs → Schrodinger-2012 → Schrodinger Command Prompt.
- Enter the following command:
%SCHRODINGER%\tools\profile_manager.exe /install %SCHRODINGER%\maestro-v9.3\data\res "Maestro,Elements,BioLuminate"
This command installs the three standard profiles, which are specified in the comma-separated list. You can choose which profiles are installed using this list.
