I'm having trouble with Maestro freezing when doing some operations, and with entries that don't get included in the Workspace. I'm storing my data on an AFS file system. What's the problem?
This can happen when Maestro is using hard links to the file system rather than soft links. Maestro uses links to optimize performance, but hard links to an AFS file system cause failures. Maestro detects the use of AFS by checking whether the path begins with /afs, and if it does, it uses soft links. However if you use soft links to the AFS file system, Maestro might not detect the use of AFS, depending on your system and configuration, and it will use hard links.
One workaround to this problem is to ensure that the paths to locations that Maestro uses start with /afs if they are on AFS. Another workaround is to enter the following command in the Command Input Area in Maestro:
prefer avoidhardlinks=always
or add this command to your maestro.cmd file.
