When I try to compile PSIPRED on my Mac OSX machine, I get the following message in the terminal window:
make: command not found
What is the problem?
This message indicates that your Mac does not have the necessary command-line developer tools to compile code. You will need to install XCode to do the compilation, and you will need to create an Apple Developer account to install the command-line tools.
- Create an Apple Developer account on the Apple web site.
- Download and install XCode on your Mac.
- When the installation is complete, open XCode.
- Go to Preferences → Downloads → Command Line Tools.
- Click Install.
You should now have the command-line tools for compiling code installed, and you can try compiling PSIPRED again. To test your compilation, go through the Prime Structure Prediction workflow and run the SSP job. You should see both SSPro and PSIPRED predictions in the sequence viewer when the job finishes.
