I started some jobs on my Windows machine, and logged out. When I logged back in again, I found that the jobs had been killed. Why does this happen?

When you log out, Windows terminates any locally running jobs. This includes any jobs that you started from Maestro locally or from a Schrodinger Command Prompt. To keep these jobs running, you should lock the screen rather than log off.
