Closing or opening a project takes a long time. Is there anything I can do about this?
Yes, you can change the speed at which projects are closed or opened by setting preferences in the Preferences panel, under Options for saving project on close (Project → Closing projects from Suite 2011 on, Projects tab in earlier releases). The speed of opening or closing the project depends on how the project is stored and whether a backup is made. The options are:
Suite 2012
- Fast close—Store the project in uncompressed form. This gives the maximum speed of closing and opening, but has no backup. This is the default.
- Create internal backup—Store a compressed backup of the project. Closing is slow, but opening is fast. This option uses the most disk space.
- Shrink project—Store the project in compressed form. Closing and opening are botn slow. This option uses the least disk space for storing the project.
Suite 2011 and earlier
- Keep uncompressed working version—Store the project in uncompressed form. This gives the maximum speed of closing and opening, but has no backup.
- Compress and keep working version—Store a compressed backup of the project. Closing is slow, but opening is fast. This option uses the most disk space. This is the default.
- Compress and remove working version—Store the project in compressed form. Closing and opening are both slow. This option uses the least disk space for storing the project.
