Maestro does not start correctly on my MacBook Pro and hangs. How can I fix this?

Certain 15" and 17" MacBook Pro models come with two different graphics processor units, one from NVIDIA for high performance, and one from Intel suitable for lower power consumption when running on battery power. The machine automatically switches between them as needed.

Maestro works correctly when your MacBook Pro is consistently using the NVIDIA graphics processor. Simply plugging your MacBook Pro into AC power is often enough to trigger the switch. If Maestro still hangs on your MacBook Pro when it is is on AC power, then open the System Preferences application and click the Energy Saver icon. Disable the "Automatic Graphics Switching" preference there to prevent your machine from switching between the graphics processors. It should then use the NVIDIA high performance graphics consistently.

We are currently investigating problems running Maestro when under battery power and thus using the Intel graphics processor and would appreciate your input. If your MacBook Pro encounters this issue, please see Article 1692 to run the Diagnostics application and generate a file archive to send to us for our analysis.
