Maestro crashes my Windows laptop when I connect it to AC power or a docking station, or when I disconnect it. How can I prevent this?
Certain laptop models come with two types of graphics processors, an "integrated" version that uses less power, and a "discrete" processor unit with high performance, and higher power requirements. Technologies such as NVIDIA Optimus attempt to automatically switch between the two based on what is running and whether the machine is connected to AC power or running on battery power.
Maestro, and other graphics-intensive programs, may crash when you plug your laptop into or disconnect it from power, for example by attaching it to a dock connector. Try quitting Maestro before changing your laptop's power connection, or, for a more permanent solution, disable this automatic switching by going to your NVIDIA control panel and choosing to keep the NVIDIA discrete graphics enabled. Another option is to disable Optimus in your computer's BIOS settings.
