I have trouble starting Maestro on my machine.

Locking assertion failure. Backtrace:
maestro: xcb_xlib.c:73: xcb_xlib_lock: Assertion `!c->xlib.lock' failed.

What does this error indicate?

This is a locking issue, and these errors have been seen on SuSE and Fedora distributions.

A workaround on OpenSuse 10.3 is to set the following environment variable to a null value:

bash/ksh:††† export LIBXCB_ALLOW_SLOPPY_LOCK=""
csh/tcsh:††† setenv LIBXCB_ALLOW_SLOPPY_LOCK ""

There is no workaround on Fedora 8.

If you do not see the second line of this error message, you may be able to fix the problem by moving libXi.so.6 from mmshare-vversion/lib/Linux-x86 to mmshare-vversion/disabled_lib/Linux-x86 and from maestro-vversion/lib/Linux-x86 to maestro-vversion/disabled_lib/Linux-x86.
