Is it possible to type in a filter to show only a subset of the files in the file selectors in Maestro?

Yes, but this operation isn't quite the same as in versions prior to Maestro 9.0 (Suite 2009), and is a consequence of the conversion to Qt. To filter the files, choose Files of type → Custom File Filter in the file selector, then type in the filter you want to use.
