I'm using the Workspace Selection tool to generate a SMARTS pattern. How do I copy the SMARTS into a text file?

You can simply use CTRL+C, which copies the SMARTS pattern for the selected atoms to the clipboard. From there you can paste it into a text editor and create the file.
