It took quite a long time for my website account to be activated. Why is that? Is the activation automatic or is each one done manually?
For some web accounts, we are required by law to manually follow up by checking whether the institution, country associated with that institution, person, country, and country associated with the IP address of the request, are restricted by US export regulations. Sometimes the information provided is not consistent (institution doesn't match country, etc.).
If we don't find any restrictions, then you will be asked for an institution-provided email address if one was not originally provided.
