How can I create a movie or animation from Maestro?

There are several ways of recording a movie in Maestro:

  • Select entries in the Project Table for the sequence of structures you want to record, and choose Entry → Record Movie. An MPEG movie is created that steps through the entries.
  • Create a set of views of the Workspace, and then click Record Movie in the Manage Views panel. The resulting MPEG movie animates the view changes of the current Workspace. You can use it with different structures in the Workspace, but changes to the Workspace structures are not recorded in the movie.
  • You can also record a movie from an MD trajectory in the Trajectory panel.

If you want to be able to change the view of a structure in a PowerPoint presentation, you can use the Maestro Viewer ActiveX control, which allows you to save the Workspace contents to a file and then manipulate the structures in the PowerPoint slide show.

PyMOL can also be used for animations — see http://pymol.org/animate. You can export structures from Maestro to PyMOL for animation.
