I have just installed Schrödinger software on my Windows machine. I already have licenses to run the software on another machine, so how do I enable these licenses on my Windows machine?

There are two ways you can do this.

  • Copy the license file from the license server to your Schrodinger installation folder. Make sure that this copy is named license.txt.

    OR

  • Set the environment variable SCHROD_LICENSE_FILE to the name of the license server machine and port number. First, open the license file on the server and find the SERVER line. The port number should be the third field after the word "SERVER". If it is not there, then you don't need to use it. You can set the environment variable with the instructions below.

XP
  1. Right-click on My Computer, and choose Properties from the shortcut menu, to open the System Properties dialog box.
  2. In the Advanced tab, click Environment Variables, to open the Environment Variables dialog box.
  3. In the User variables section, click New, enter SCHROD_LICENSE_FILE as the name, and @server or port@server for the value (depending on whether you have a port number to include).
  4. Close the dialog boxes.
Vista/7
  1. Click Start, then click Control Panel.
  2. In the Control Panel, click User Accounts.
  3. Click User Accounts again.
  4. In the Task side panel on the left, click Change my environment variables, to open the Environment Variables dialog box.
  5. In the User variables section, click New, enter SCHROD_LICENSE_FILE as the name, and @server or port@server for the value (depending on whether you have a port number to include).
  6. Close the dialog boxes.
