NEW YORK, NY (December 17, 2010) – Schrödinger announced today that it has acquired Synaptic Science, LLC.  Synaptic Science’s award winning enterprise informatics platform, SEURAT™, has been adopted by a number of pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies.

Founders of Synaptic Science believe the most effective way enterprise informatics software can help drug discovery researchers is to provide an integrated view of chemical, biological, and preclinical data to allow scientists to collaboratively arrive at the best strategy for any project.  "SEURAT supports an entire research team's decision making process without getting in the way," says James Baxendale, Synaptic Science's CEO, "SEURAT does this by using the databases, models, computations, and any other tools that represent the proper mix for the research team."

"While we have focused on delivering the most advanced and accurate simulation results possible to our users in modeling groups, we have not previously provided productivity tools to help the broader community beyond our core users," says Schrödinger's President, Dr. Ramy Farid, who sees great synergy in this acquisition, "SEURAT can significantly facilitate sharing information between medicinal chemistry, biology, pharmacology, toxicology, computational chemistry, and corporate IT groups, and we believe will be a vehicle for bringing our powerful predictions to a wider audience."
