How can I fix Maestro's icons and fonts on my Linux machine with a HD display?

Some Linux window managers do not correctly scale Maestro’s icons and fonts well on high- or ultra-high-definition displays (HD, 4K UHD), or misalign checkboxes or other features in application panels. These problems are likely general to the window manager and not specific to Maestro or Schrödinger applications. A future update to the window manager or the Linux distribution itself may fix these issues.

There are two suggested workarounds. You may want to try both and see which you prefer, then set an alias in your terminal shell to make it easier to launch this way in the future.

  1. Disable the automatic scaling in Maestro:
    QT_SCALE_FACTOR=1 QT_AUTO_SCREEN_SCALE_FACTOR=0 $SCHRODINGER/maestro
  2. You can use hi-DPI settings by starting it as:
    QT_SCALE_FACTOR=2 QT_AUTO_SCREEN_SCALE_FACTOR=0 $SCHRODINGER/maestro
