Upcoming infrastructure changes

We would like to keep you informed of upcoming changes to our tools and infrastructure that may require action from your IT team. See the table below for a list of anticipated changes and please note the first release that will be affected by each. Drop support for RHEL/CentOS 7 RHEL/CentOS 7 will reach their end of life on June 30, 2024 and will no longer be supported after release 24-2. 24-3
Drop support for SUSE 12/15 Due to limited use by customers and short support cycle lifetimes for SUSE service packs we are aiming to deprecate SUSE support and concentrate our testing, support and development resources on our other supported Linux OSs. 24-2
MacOS 10.x installers Official support for the last MacOS 10.x-based version ended with release 2023-1. Starting with release 2024-1, our software installer won’t run on MacOS versions lower than MacOS 11. 24-1
CUDA Library upgrade Schrödinger Suite: GPU compute nodes and workstations will need a CUDA 12.0 (>= 525.60.13) compatible Nvidia driver installed to run our GPU enabled products. This upgrade is required to support the latest generations of Nvidia GPUs (Hopper and Lovelace). 23-3
Support for SSE4.2 From release 2023-3 onwards our software requires support for the SSE4.2 CPU instruction set. For further information please see https://support.schrodinger.com/kA08V000000Jy4e?name=243079 23-3
Rocky Linux (CentOS 8) The 21-4 release will be the last to support CentOS 8. With RedHat’s announcement that they will not provide updates for CentOS 8 after 2021 we are switching to testing and supporting Rocky Linux from the 22-1 release onwards. We will continue to support CentOS 7 throughout its lifecycle. 21-4
CUDA library upgrade Schrödinger Suite: GPU compute nodes and workstations will need a CUDA 11.X (>= 450.80.02) compatible Nvidia driver installed to run our GPU enabled products. As a result of the above CUDA upgrade, support for ALL Kepler architecture cards (K80, K20 and K40) is deprecated in the 21-3 release. Nvidia states in their latest release notes that “the features still work in the current release, but their documentation may have been removed, and they will become officially unsupported in a future release”. If you still rely on K80 cards for computation for the Schrödinger Suite we recommend exploring newer options. 21-3
Drop support for RHEL/CentOS 6 RHEL/CentOS 6 will reach their EOL and will no longer be supported after this release. Please upgrade to RHEL/CentOS 7. 20-4
Drop support for Windows 7 Windows 7 will reach its end of extended support and will no longer be supported after this release. Please upgrade to Windows 10. 19-4
CUDA library upgrade Schrödinger Suite: GPU compute nodes and workstations will need a CUDA 10 (or above) compatible Nvidia driver installed to run our GPU enabled products. 19-3
FLEXlm Upgrade If you run your own license server you will need to upgrade to FLEXlm version 11.15 to successfully check-out licenses. Please see KB Article 338412 for more information. 19-2
Drop support for OS X 10.11

The 2019-2 release will be the last to support OS X 10.11.

Removal of Windows 32 bit installers Schrödinger Suite: Windows 32 bit installations will no longer be supported. 18-2
Migration of python2 to python3 Schrödinger Suite: All python infrastructure within the 18-2 release will be upgraded by our development team. We have also provided some tools and advice to ensure that your custom scripts are python 3 compliant. Let us know if you require any extra assistance in upgrading. 18-2
PLDB Upgrade Proprietary PLDB server versions 17-1 to 18-1 will need to be upgraded in order to use PLDB from Maestro 18-2. Please contact help@schrodinger.com if you’d like help upgrading your PLDB instance. 18-2
