Maestro

An Introduction to Maestro

Adding Structures

To get started using Maestro, you will probably want to import a structure into the Workspace. We recommend that you start with a small complex, like 1FJS. Alternatively, you could open an existing project. Both of these options are available from the File menu at the top of the screen.

Importing Structures Workflow

Importing structures

To load in structures from a file, choose “Import Structures…” from the File menu. If you have access to the internet, you can use “Get PDB…” instead. Recently imported structures are available directly from the “Import Recent Structures” submenu.

To open an existing project, simply choose “Open Project...” from the same menu. Recently opened projects are also available from a submenu.

Preparing a protein

A banner will appear in the Workspace when the structure has been successfully imported. If the structure includes a protein, the banner will offer a link to the Protein Preparation Wizard. Click "Prepare" on the banner to open the wizard, or use the button on the Favorites toolbar.
