Digital Chemistry for Materials Innovation in Industry
Speaker:
Shaun Kwak, Senior Director, Schrödinger
Abstract:
We introduce a digital chemistry platform technology designed to accelerate materials innovation in
industrial settings by integrating physics-based simulation, data-driven modeling, and generative design. The platform enables rapid exploration of chemical and materials spaces while maintaining predictive accuracy grounded in computational physics. Recent collaborative case studies that demonstrate its impact include but are not limited to: an accelerated development framework for advanced semiconductor packaging solutions, enabling faster design iteration and performance optimization; a general design framework for novel copolymers, achieving multiparameter optimization across thermomechanical and dielectric properties; and the discovery of next-generation electrolyte solvents using generative models coupled with physics-based validation. These examples illustrate how digital chemistry can reduce cost by accelerating development cycles, providing a scalable pathway for industrial materials innovation.
