Kevin Cunningham, Researcher
Dr Kevin Cunningham received his PhD from the University of Kent under the supervision of Professor Alistair Mathie where he investigated the role of two-pore domain potassium channels (K2P) in pulmonary disorders. Following this he moved to King’s College, London to work with Professor Peter McNaughton identifying novel selective blockers of HCN2 channels in the treatment of neuropathic pain. After King’s he moved to the University of Miami to work with Professor Peter Larsson, continuing to work on HCN channels and their biophysical properties in disease. From July 2023, he has been heading his own research group at the University of Westminster investigating the role of Kv1.5 channels in atrial fibrillation.
